I recently stayed at the Sonesta Charlotte Lower South End hotel. The housekeeping service there is very poor. First of all you have to request it in order to receive it. First of all you have to request it in order to receive it. The door sign says " Unapologetically Unplugged" on both sides of it so it is not very helpful. When I tried to call housekeeping using the room phone I did not get the tone. I realized that the phone was UNPLUGGED. I plugged it and had to wait for it to recharge. There were no instructions anywhere in the room, including on the phone itself, on how to contact the front desk or housekeeping. I made a call from my phone on the general hotel number and requested the service. Since it was after 7 pm, the only thing I could have was some fresh towels. Next morning I stopped by the front desk and REQUESTED the housekeeping service since I needed them to empty the garbage pails in the room as well as fresh towels. When I returned in the late afternoon I found out that nobody entered my room and nothing was done. Next morning everything was repeated. I requested housekeeping, the front desk person promised to place an order and by the end of the day when I returned to my room it was exactly the same as I left it in the morning. Nothing was done since nobody entered it. The same thing happened all 4 nights that I was in this hotel. It is unacceptable. I had to take out the garbage from my room and stopped at front desk every night to request cups and Keurig coffee pods for coffee machine and fresh towels. This hotel advertise "dinner" served until 9 pm. I stopped by at 8:30 pm on my first night and the only thing available was a pizza pie 16". I had to take it since it was too late to look for another place. This is just a bar with some questionable finger food choices at the beginning of the evening and nothing if you come late at night.Show More

When we arrived, we were affronted by the noise and unruliness of the lobby, where a couple came down and cut in front of us to loudly proclaim to the front desk staff that they'd gone up to their room only to find other people already in residence, naked, having sex in the room. After waiting to check in, we were informed the hotel doesn have a sauna and has never had such an amenity. If I hadn't booked through a third-party app, Hopper, I would have canceled right then and there. As it was, we stayed in our room with the door triple locked, and tried to ignore the many loud goings-on happening in the hallways late into the night. The next day, we were further disappointed to learn that while there is supposed to be a microwave on each floor, ours somehow lacked that amenity as well, and with no such facility in the room, we had to make do with heating our food in the lobby. All in all, we were very glad to see the last of this place.Show More

But that thought quickly left once I went out for dinner. It was in a very convenient location to everything you might need to access. Everyone was professional and very pleasant. The room smelled a little musty but was very clean. The ice machine on my floor was out of service and hotels are no longer offering microwaves and refrigerator in the rooms any more. The hotel is due for an upgrade but for the price it was very nice. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the atea.Show More

The room has a fridge and Keurig. Ice machine and microwave were located in a separate room on the floor. The bed was comfy. For the most part, it was quite. The only thing I didn't like was that the room had an adjoining room and you could hear all the noises. But, the "neighbors" weren't too noisy. Also, you almost always hit traffic if you need to get on Tyvola.Show More
