I originally chose the Renaissance Charlotte Southpark because I’m a Marriott Bonvoy member and it was within walking distance to my company’s office. But I continue to choose the hotel for the people. I want to give a special shout out to Miss Riziki, who works in the restaurant. She is such a nice and friendly and thoughtful person. The last time I was here was almost two years ago. I like to get the same thing for breakfast, and on the 2nd morning of my most recent stay she brought out my drink without asking because she remembered me from my last time here. She also asked me if the was something wrong with the potatoes that came with my breakfast because I didn’t eat them the day before. I told her no, just didn’t like them for breakfast. So she asked if there was some thing else I would like instead. I asked if they had any pineapple because they used to include a variety of fruit with the breakfast I always order. She said she wasn’t sure, but she would check. A few minutes later she came back with some fresh pineapple. This was such a nice touch and we started talking and she told me how she remembered me from my previous trip and that I ordered the same thing each morning. She could not believe that it had been almost two years since the last time I had stayed with them. There are a lot of hotel options, including other Marriott properties, in this area, but it is because of the friendly people like Miss Riziki that I continue to choose to stay at the Renaissance Southpark.Show More

I deducted a star because of the placement of my room near the ice machine and overlook the inside courtyard making for a slightly noisy stay. I used earplugs to fall asleep. I would return but insist on a different room. Be aware that the walls are thin. The bathroom lacks lotion. We did not eat at the restaurant because there are more diverse choices in walking distance. The greatest asset is location, remodeled rooms with no carpet or allergens. Also be aware that if using a debit card the hotel could take up to 30 DAYS to return the charge for unused incidentals - just outrageous !Show More
