Stayed B&B at Pelicanos 7 night. Checked in at around midnight (so no queues), and all we wanted was a cuppa and bed. Checked in at around midnight (so no queues), and all we wanted was a cuppa and bed. Had to hire a kettle (€25) and experience late night Benidorm to fetch some milk (thank goodness for 24/7 shop stones throw away). Thankfully, I packed tea, coffee, sugar, AND mugs (because I like a mug, not a cup of tea) because there was zero available at reception or in the room.
Room (13th floor - had to use lifts and probably lost half a day in total travelling up and down lol) was tiny for 3 people but thankfully one of our group had had to cancel holiday, so for 2 it was OK. As people have said, the room was dated/chipped/filthy dirty walls, and the fridge and bathroom were far from clean. The shower lacked water power, but water was hot. The balcony was a good size; only 2 chairs, but that was okay due to us now only being a party of 2. The beds were clean and comfy.
The brekky was to my liking (eggs were gorgeous). The age-old bore of "toasters" was ever present. I don't understand why this is a thing in hotels! Usually, we went to brekky around 9.45 and never had to queue. Open until 10.30, which is great. Lots of food right up to end of service.
The pool was brilliant! So large and clean. Any dirty areas were down to disrespectful guests, not the staff. Pool water was super cold, but did great job of cooling me off. The sunbeds were aplenty and comfortable. Yes, obviously, some people reserved beds, but there were plenty available (probably because it's mid-Oct?).
Didn't like the token idea. I understand that staff don't want to be clearing up empty cups, blowing about because, yes, people are lazy and don't clean up for themselves but my issue with the token was how some bar staff treated us like it was our idea and not their policy. Barked at on a daily basis, in response to request for drinks, "Token?" Didn't like the vibe of this at all.
So, I'd recommend Pelicanos for the Pool (beautiful) and its handy location and handy midday checkout. But not so much for the bedrooms (too small for 3) and lack of room facilities such as kettle (€20 refund at checkout btw, like anyone would steal a kettle!) cups, spoon, complimentary milk etc for people arriving in early hours due to flight delay - just a bit of a warmer welcome would be nice.Show More
