The hotel offered me an upgrade during check-in, if I gave them a 5 star review. Not only was the upgrade of no added value, the hotel is not worth even 2 stars. So this is why it has moved from 3.5 to 4.1 in the recent past. This is an unacceptable method used by the hotel
Good things about the hotel:
1. Great location, close to everything including BTS
2. Good variety in breakfast
3. Comfortable bed
Bad things about the hotel:
Other than what is mentioned above as good, everything else is terrible. We got an upgrade by agreeing to give a 5 star rating at check in itself. But what we actually got was an identical room on a higher floor. Honestly, I had rather stayed on the lower floor cos it takes forever to get elevators during peak hours (Breakfast and evenings)
The room is of good size but the bathroom is a complete let down. It is small, uncomfortable and equipped with the cheapest available fittings (closet, sink, shower head, taps etc). The room is good to look at and barring the comfortable bed (thank God), all other fittings are so cheap (example the bed side lamps), you will actually laugh. What really upset me was they charged 50 Baht for an extra glass we asked for (there were only 2 glasses in the room and we were 3 ppl that checked in, and only reasonable to ask for a 3rd glass)
Room service closes at 9 pm but nowhere mentioned that it would close at 9 pm. We kept calling for an hour with no response, only to find out later from the reception about this peculiar rule
While variety at breakfast was good, they seem to not be able to manage the 100 tables that are all in use at the same time. Its a war zone out there. We could not find a table since the available tables were still not cleared (one staff clearing 100 tables). We requested for one to be cleared - the staff took everything away from the table promptly but did not clean the food residues left by the previous users. I requested again and it was then done, still mats and cutlery missing. While the staff was cleaning the table, I thanked her twice on courtesy and no response, not even a smile of acknowledgement. The staff seem frustrated and work like robots. A hotel of this size needs human touch and a connection between staff and guests which is clearly absent.
The pool is run down and not at all child friendly. It does have a 4 feet shallow zone but there is no partition between shallow and deep. A mishap will surely happen one day. My child was cold after a swim and I put a towel around her to walk her back to the room. The pool supervisor was very rude and would not allow the towel to be taken to the room, which was very insensitive and insulting at the same time
This hotel is patronized by a lot of Indians. I also wanted to try it just for the location. However, I am not willing to compromise on class, comfort and staff attitude. I will never ever stay here again. The hotel needs to learn to be good and take care of guests for real reviews
Look up their reviews date-wise and you will see a surge of good reviews in the recent past (cos the hotel lures guests with upgrades). This surge has brought Ambassador from 3.5 to 4.1 currently and in quick time. Get the drift!Show More
