The biggest issue was the food and beverage quality throughout the resort. Nearly every meal felt frozen, fried, and lacking in freshness or healthy options. We found ourselves wishing for something as simple as a grilled chicken breast with steamed vegetables—hardly an extravagant request, yet nowhere to be found. Even quality coffee wasn’t available on-site, and we ended up driving off property each morning just to get a decent cup.
Springhouse Café: Pricing felt inconsistent, the menu was limited, and the buffet setup felt more cafeteria than resort. The wine list was disappointing—low-quality selections priced higher by the glass than most bottles would cost elsewhere. Service was slow, and a mistake was made with my daughter’s dairy allergy that took multiple reminders to correct. Her gluten-free bun was dry and fell apart, condiments were forgotten, and we eventually had to get up to find our own salt and pepper.
Antlers: Dinner here was equally discouraging. The halibut I ordered was overcooked, dry, and flavorless. When I sent it back, the replacement came out the same way. The staff and manager were kind and apologetic, but the problem was clearly with food quality, not service.
Pool Bar: After the first day, there was no poolside service at all. We had to walk back and forth to the bar to order and pick up food—typically waiting 25–30 minutes each time. With kids and nap schedules, this was inconvenient. The food, when it arrived, was typical greasy bar food, and one order of fish and chips was undercooked.
While managers Dave and Bailey were wonderful and did their best to assist, they were working within a system that simply isn’t delivering Hyatt-level standards. To top it off, a used Frappuccino cup left by a previous guest remained in our room all four nights of our stay, raising serious concerns about housekeeping attention to detail.
We’ve stayed at Hyatt Lost Pines in the past and expected a similar level of quality, but Hill Country fell well short—especially in dining, consistency, and cleanliness. Unfortunately, this resort didn’t meet the standard we’ve come to expect from Hyatt, and we wouldn’t choose to return.Show More
