This time around I had a three-night stay, and then returned with my son for a two night stay later in the week. Both times the rooms were beautifully presented, and the team helpful and professional from arrival to departure. The rooms were refurbished many years ago, and they have a classic décor, are amongst the most user friendly I have experienced, and as importantly, they are kept in excellent condition. I had Dinner in house at The Sydney Common Bar. Food and drink were 5 out of 5, as was the service. (BTW...in May this year I hosted a special Birthday Lunch in Lobby Level The Gallery for my best friend. It was just the most wonderful get-together because of the ambience and the excellence of the F&B and restaurant teams...truly beyond 5 out of 5.) There is nothing I don’t like about this hotel, and on a practical note, especially appreciate that Sheraton Grand Sydney still has a desktop computer for guest use off the Lobby. I was privileged to have a long career with Sheraton/Starwood/Marriott and I continue to enjoy and support Marriott with their many brand options, high standard of hotels, and consistency of service. I highly recommend Sheraton Grand Sydney, Hyde Park. It is a “grand” hotel in the truest sense of the word, has a central location, warm, friendly and professional service, very comfortable and well-maintained rooms, and classy restaurants and bars, including Sydney Common which awarded one hat by the SMH Good Food Guide (yet to try, next time!)Show More

The bathroom was also huge, with both a tub and shower. I had booked a city view, but had a park view, which was a nice bonus. The hotel must have done an upgrade. Breakfast was outstanding, albeit quite pricey. Two caveats which may apply: a) The hotel is not as central as some other hotels for the key tourist attractions such as Circular Quay or the Harbour Bridge. I didn't mind, as walking around central Sydney is enjoyable. If you don't mind doing some walking, this may suit your needs; the hotel is also close to a metro station; b) The hotel can be expensive, depending on time of year. I would possibly stay here again, as it is a beautiful hotel, but only if the prices were within their normal range rather than their peak period range.Show More

I was very over tired having had multiple delays with my travel that day. I found it difficult at first to comprehend what the clerk was trying to get me to do. Upon reflection I should not have been persuaded particularly because the room I was put into was in the far corner of the rear of the building and it was tiny. I'm sure it is standard practice at your establishment to offer a discounted rate for a conference group and then persuade customers to give back the room they have paid for a lesser option but personally I feel ripped off. The offer of breakfast as an inclusion does not really cut it to make up for this dodgy practice. I'm quite appalled to be honest that this is the practice of such a prestigious property on the accommodation market in Sydney. For the price I paid I would have expected to be treated better than that.Show More

The hotel is quite nice as far as decor and comfort but we weren’t met with a warm greeting, especially after I mentioned several times ahead of arrival regarding our anniversary celebration. Our room was average and we were charged for mini bar items we didn’t purchase. It took some time but the charges were finally reversed. The best of this experience was the concierge club with a great breakfast spread and service, otherwise I’d not recommend for a great celebration experience.Show More
