I found the Alexis Park Resort for a birthday trip to Vegas for a pretty reasonable rate, but as usual, the rating gets dinged for assessing a dishonest, customer-unfriendly ripoff ("resort") fee.

The location is pretty good. It's a bit east of the Strip, potentially walking distance if you don't mind a bit of a hike, although probably not in summertime heat. It's close to the UNLV campus. More importantly, it's near the flight path of one of Harry Reid airport. I did not find this a particularly big issue, although from the back of the property, it does almost feel like you could reach out and touch landing jets. Landing jets aren't as noisy as jets taking off, so that's a mitigating factor as well. My room was on the 2nd floor (of 2) in a building nearly farthest from that back corner. I could barely hear any airport noise. (Then again, I usually have the TV on when I'm in the room and awake, and I wear foam earplugs when I sleep, so even louder sounds are not typically disturbing at night.) There are a few restaurants nearby, as well as a CVS.
The property is a complex of a couple of dozen two-story buildings laid out in 2 rows on the south side of Harmon. Between the two rows of buildings are paths and trees and 3 pools, one of which is open until 9pm. This is later than the typical casino pool, but the pool that is open that late is a smaller one; it's a shame that the other close earlier and also a shame that at least one isn't open later, especially in the summer. Late-night swims are refreshing before bed.
I got a room on the 2nd floor. I never found an elevator. The room was quite large. There is a kitchen-like area right inside the door. "Kitchen-like" because there's.a small round table with 2 chairs next to a counter. On the counter is a microwave. Under the counter are some cabinets and a mini-fridge.
The main room is very large. at one end is a couch. At the other is a queen bed with a very thick mattress. In between is a small TV mounted on the wall that can't really be angled well toward the couch or the bed. It's also a lower-definition TV, and I was never able to find a channel guide on the TV itself to scroll through see what was playing and select channels, so I was limited to only channel up and channel down.
The bed is SUPER comfortable. The mattress is very thick and a bit firm and I slept very, very well. I literally want to find that brand and model of mattress and buy one for home. (I have been unable to find that info so far though.) The bed also had 3 mediocre pillows. They were fine.
The bathroom was fine. Somewhat wider tub that typical, which felt nice. Plenty of counter space around the sink, which was essential. Toiletries were below average, specifically the soap. Shampoo and conditioner in small bottles were fine, but the soaps were already barely a sliver when new.
Climate control worked fine, once I could figure out the remote, which had more controls than I could figure out. Once I got it set up, the wall unit was not too noisy when it operated.
I had a significant issue with room refreshes. I stayed 8 nights and got a refresh on just 4 of them. I did not get one after the first night, but did after the second. There was no information on how often they did this either. When they did a room refresh, not all items in the bathroom were replaced. All the times a room refresh did happen, I never got fresh washcloths, and sometimes did not get enough soaps. I did have to go to the lobby to get both. And while after my initial nights, I thought room refreshes might be every other night, they did not occur at all the last 4 nights there. I mentioned this when I checked out, and the clerk said I could have called. I expressed surprise, as I would get back to my room typically between 10pm and 11pm, and was told that housekeeping would have been available. Things is, even if it was, which has not been my experience at many other hotels, at that hour, all I want to do is wind down and go to bed. I sure as heck don't want to stay dressed, vacate my room for 10-15 minutes, and wait for housekeeping to do their thing. The response from the staff about this I found rather condescending. And I'm left to wonder just what the housekeeping schedule for the property is.
Internet worked fine. Plenty of electrical outlets. Desk next to the bed of a reasonable size with a decent office chair.
Parking is only outdoors. So if you're there in the summer and are not leaving early, prepare your vehicle for being in the hot sun. (In my case, cracked windows and a sun shade.) But they are also smart enough to not charge for parking.
The property overall isn't "new" and "shiny." If that's what you want, this might not be for you. I could see evidence in places where there were bits of wear and tear. This does not bother me. The property is maintained well. It's just, well, used. And that's good.
If you want a comfortable place to stay, consider here. I'd say it's good for all types of travelers, singles, couples, families, and more. It's especially good if you don't really care about gambling and partying and all the gaudiness that is the Strip. Yet it's close enough if you do want to go, but it is also convenient to get to other places around the Vegas valley too.
Overall, this is a place I would stay again--if I find an offer of a good rate. I'm a "value" visitor. I spend very little time in my hotel room and have zero interest in "luxury." This fits the bill and then some. It would be better value, of course, if they would eliminate the junk fees and just publish honest room rates.Show More
