Th...Stayed here over the Thanksgiving weekend for 5 nights. I am a Hilton Honors member so I always try and stay at a Hilton property. Very nice hotel, beautiful lobby and central location in downtown. This may not be a good thing though. On the second night of our stay the fire alarm went off in our room sometime around 4:30 am. We were startled awake and jumped out of bed to get dressed preparing to evacuate. After 15 to 20 seconds the alarm turned off. We had no idea what was going on. They have a speaker announcement system in each room for the fire alarm but there was no announcement that it was a false alarm and everything was fine. Decided to just stay in the room and go back to bed since I assumed they would not cancel the alarm if it was really a fire. Checked with the desk the next morning and no one knew anything about the alarm. I found this very odd that no one knew about it. When an alarm goes off in a system like this it is not isolated to one room. Never got an answer about the alarm. Move forward to Friday evening coming back to the room after a night out and there was loud thumping bass resounding in our room and I am guessing most of the rooms facing 6th street. Since I had a couple of drinks I was able to get to sleep. Saturday evening was a different story, we had an early Sunday morning flight so we were back in our room around 10:00 pm after visiting friends who live locally. The thumping bass was even worse. It went on until I got out of bed at 3:00 am to catch an early flight out of Austin. I did not sleep at all Saturday evening. I knew it would be futile to call the desk since they had no control of what was going on out on 6th street. I was miserable. We informed the front desk on the way out that morning and all they could say was sorry and to make sure to tell about it when I get my satisfaction survey. Obviously not satisfied. If you decide to stay here you need to ask for a room as far away from the 6th street side as possible. If you plan on staying a Friday and Saturday evening you will have to deal with the noise around the hotel. As a Hilton Honors member we were supposed to get 2 waters a day in our room. On the 3rd day we asked the front desk and they sent up 4 bottles of water. Should not have had to ask. I do not think I will ever stay here again.Show More

The shower drain was clogged and could not be fixed so we had to pack up and move to another room. Both rooms had a musty smell. On two occasions, housekeepers knocked on the door early in the morning and then opened the door even with a “do not disturb” sign on the door. The walls were paper thin and I could hear everything in the adjacent rooms. The only good thing about the room was the city view especially at sunset. We went to the Taco Project at 11:30 am and there was nobody there to greet us so we left. The next morning we went back to the Taco Project restaurant and had the buffet which consisted of lukewarm scrambled eggs, some hard fruit, veggies, and oatmeal which was the only thing that I liked. For the quality, it was way overpriced at over $30 per person. I included a tip and then the waiter decided to add an extra 20 percent for himself. I spoke to Stephen, the Director of the Front Office, and he was very concerned and took care of the fraud. He ended up giving me an extra credit for the various problems that I encountered at the hotel. The location is convenient which is walking distance to many downtown restaurants and shops. Unfortunately, I would not stay again because of all of the problems I encountered.Show More

The room was clean and beautifully decorated, bed was very comfortable, water pressure was good, and cleaning staff was accommodating. The front service staff were helpful in answering questions and providing me with even alcohol wipes that I asked for to treat an insect bite from my hike at Lady Bird Trail. Highly recommended. Beautiful and peaceful. The location is in the downtown area and very convenient for restaurants and hikes etc. It's also located next to the metro train 550 though I didn't take the train. Amenities are thoughtful and pretty eco-friendly. Noise level was low. I had very restful sleep each night. As always, Hilton's value is great for the overall offerings and service. Highly recommend!Show More
