The ...Our trip to Austin was for a several year planned father and adult son trip to COTA, the Circuit of Americas Race Track, for race car driving lessons as guests at the race track of Mercedes-Benz. The JW Marriott Austin is one of three hotels recommended by Mercedes. Briefly, our stay was horrendous. The stay went downhill beginning with our arrival - I booked two connecting rooms —- the arrogant and rude check-in individual first refused to honor the Bonvoy membership, telling us that the JW Marriott does not honor the membership program nor the American Express Platinum card program. He told us that he would make an exception and give us free WiFi. He continued to try to sell us up on rooms for more money, continually interrupting me when I tried to speak. All he wanted was more money. He never gave us any information or directions about the hotel. A manager apparently saw our experience and came over to us as we were looking for the elevators. She apologized and gave us some information about the hotel. This is too long — so one room key did not work; the keys were not programmed to get out of the garage so in the early AM we held up five (5) cars because no one answered the help button on the garage exit kiosk and I had to get out of the car and go back up to the lobby for help so we could all get out; we had drinks in the bar and upon exit the manager who we met earlier asked if she could comp us - she copied the receipt but we never got credit; came back from dinner and could not get into the garage - there was a car on the garage entrance ramp - parked by the valets and they had trouble finding the keys - help up many cars and valet service; so much more. Basically we never received the Bonvoy benefits and the curt and consenting attitude of the check-in individual contributed to my critical and negative stay and review.Show More

No firm pillows ;( What they brought us on request were no better than the ones already there. Booked direct w/ Marriott.com, but check-in staff struggled with their 10 year anniversary rate package that I had. They didn't understand (or couldn't find) the 50% parking discount, and failed to mention the $25 destination fee (good for a food & beverage credit) until I brought it up. I addressed the parking discount the next day, and it was handled. We enjoyed drinks in the lobby bar while being served by a very nice, personable young man (he was from Savannah, GA I recall.) A short walk to the Bat Bridge, but that was disappointing - we were told later that spring & summer were much better times to witness the sunset flight. This was one of the reasons we chose this hotel / location. In hindsight, we would have been happier in Round Rock for $200 less. Oh well... Austin traffic is congested to say the least. Between the kids on e-scooters, road construction on I-35, and countless Waymo driverless cars, we were glad to reach Austin city limits in our car after we checked out...Show More
