We were greeted by a very efficient valet team and outreaching, friendly, customer focused f...My family and I stayed at the Alma San Diego Downtown, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel from 25-29 November 2025. We were greeted by a very efficient valet team and outreaching, friendly, customer focused front desk personnel. Due to an unfortunate miscommunication there was difference in our room requirement and room assigned. In my view more specific description when referring to a presidential suite vs regular room by both parties in the planning process and an improvement in the communications interface between the hotel and a separate reservation department would have been significant in avoiding this and similar disconnects. We were able to quickly resolve the issue because both parties (the hotel personnel and myself) listened carefully to the other while we presented our respective understanding of how this disconnect occurred. The hotel personnel took the initiative with a proposeda solution that far exceeded our expectations in resolving the situation to our complete satisfaction! The presidential suite met all of our expectations, service was excellent, the restaurant dining experience was delicious Thank you to Tre and Lena for a very pleasant hotel stay!Show More

Impossível ter uma noite tranquila. Impossível dormir num ambiente com tanto ruído. A região do hotel (inclusive calçada em frente) é extremamente suja, com péssimo odor de urina e fezes. O serviço de valet não funciona conforme anunciado. Recebemos um cartão com QR code para pedir o carro com antecedencia. Nas 3 vezes que precisamos do carro, o QR code nao funcionou e esperamos por 15-20 minutos na calçada. O café da manhã tem somente 2 funcionarios para atender 2 salões repletos. Esperamos 40 minutos por um café e pão com ovos fritos e bacon.Show More

I am fairly well traveled and have stayed just about everywhere in SD. The facility was beautiful, the room had the most beautiful view, and the breakfast was delicious. The number 1 thing that stood out to me was the staff. Sophia checked us in and was of constant help throughout out our stay. She gave great recommendations and knowledgeable about the downtown area. The greatest thing about Sofia was her personality and her kindness. She went above and beyond for us at every turn. You can have a beautiful hotel but the place can still lack heart. Sophia was the heart and soul of Alma. Because of her the Alma work be the only hotel we stay at when we are in town. Thank you Sophia for making our trip so memorable 💓 Show More

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to make up for the quality of the building itself. I don't think there was a single corner of the wall or piece of furniture that wasn't scratched, dented, or chipped. Every surface was dusty. The toilet paper was rough and cheap. The sink backed up. You could hear people next door or on other floors through the walls and the pipes. The blackout curtains couldn't keep the neon light out of the room. I've stayed in all sorts of places from hostels to Airbnbs to resorts. This spot just isn't worth what they charge.Show More
