We were tired from traveling all day and got our things from the car and went up to the room. The hallway smelled a bit stale and of mildew, but the room was fine. I took a point off because I didn't have control over the temperature in my room. The temperature was set in the lobby, which was fine, -until it wasn't. The temperature was set in the lobby, which was fine, -until it wasn't. I asked it to be set at 72, then in the middle of the night woke up to a temperature of 78 and climbing. Once we got that straightened out, I had a most enjoyable stay. I chose a room on the 4th floor with a view. Ok, it was a partial view of the ocean, with a balcony. The room was large, and the bed was comfortable. The location is excellent. I had family visiting and they could always find free parking nearby. Many different delicious restaurants just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. It was easy to arrange a ride with their driver to the airport, - he is available to pick up from there, as well. This will be my first choice for visiting my family when I stay in La Jolla in the future. I wish there had been a hot tub! I think if there had been someone loud in the next room it would have disturbed the stay, -a few times I could hear the television in the next room too well. I think it is because the room could open to the next, so it was through the connecting door I could hear the occasional noise. The location can't be beat. Did I mention the pleasant and helpful staff? It deserves repeating. I'll return!Show More

This ranks among the properties with the best staff! Starting with Cheryl, who greeted us at front desk. As usual, my travel agent included perks in my booking that I never got honestly. Instead Cheryl had them on file (like I believe all do but don't act on) and gave me one, while the upgrade was not available as the hotel was fully booked. She said she put a note for an upgrade when ready. Of course, I thought that, as usual this will not happen. Next day we are upgraded to a room with sea view (believe me, it is worth it). Then Julie, on night duty gave us the best tips for food orders and parking spots and Miguel , smiling and helpful. Housekeeping staff is great, both in attitude and efficiency, the hotel's cleanliness shows it all! Rooms are spacious and have all you need for a stay. Pool is small but with the coffee area right next to it feels like a haven for those who are not into laps :) The location of the hotel is another asset that is not to be ignored as you are within walking distance to dining and sight seeing options in the area. Will not book any other place while in town next time!Show More

I called the front desk about purchasing water, and she was polite and accommodating (it's a small thing I know but) she told me where to go for complimentary water and also told me where at the hotel I could purchase it, it was just nice that she wasn't out for a sale. Checking out was easy, too!!! The price was right, and the accommodations were really nice and tidy!!! The balcony was a bonus. We just had a great and cozy vibe staying at your hotel!!! I would recommend this place to people I love ❤️ and We will be back soon. Thank you, Inn by the Sea, for a beautiful visit 💙Show More
