For context: I travel somewhat infrequently these days, but I've stayed in dozens of hotels over the last five years (post-COVID) that range from La Quinta and Days Inn to the high-end offerings of Hilton and Marriott.
The Good
------------------------------------------------
--Excellent spot in the CBD, convenient for getting around.
--The attached restaurant, Seaworthy, was a highlight with fantastic food and service.
--The Front Office Manager and the woman working valet were both wonderful and helpful.
--The gym had better equipment than I expected. They even had Rogue Fatbells.
The Mixed
------------------------------------------------
--Good drip coffee, but the customer service was lacking. Even as the only customer, they could not muster a "Hello" or a "Be right with you". Took them three minutes to acknowledge my existence.
--Toiletries were provided but had an odd smell. The full-size fridge was a nice idea, but it was so packed with overpriced minibar items that we only had one usable shelf.
--Lobby at night was more active than most hotel lobbies. I was happy to see a lively atmosphere, but for anyone seeking solitude or silence this might not be the location for you.
The Bad (Chronological Order)
------------------------------------------------
--We were downgraded from our booked room type. They waived destination fees as compensation, but it was a disappointing start.
--A nearby event caused a huge line to block the hotel entryway, and staff didn't manage the crowd effectively.
--Our shower broke, and it took over an hour for maintenance to respond, delaying our plans. They offered to waive destination fees again (already done) before finally giving a $75 hotel credit.
When we tried to use the $75 credit at the bar, the bartender charged my card instead of the room despite only moderate bar activity and about 15 minutes lapsing between first mention of the intent to charge to the room and the closing of the tab.
--We were also mistakenly charged for minibar items we didn't use.
--Aside from the manager, the front desk staff seemed poorly trained and struggled to resolve the multitude of issues I experienced smoothly.
Overall, while the location and Seaworthy are great, the service failures and room issues made for a frustrating stay. I hope they can improve their service and facilities because I am certain this could be (or perhaps has been) and excellent hotel.Need ImprovementShow More
