I was supposed to spend 2 nights here before a cruise from Miami. I wound up spending only one, due in large part to the staff’s inability to resolve issues (cleanliness, bed comfort and room temperature) and overall poor attitude. I moved to Moxy South Beach (I reviewed that as well) and had a much better experience.
The rooms here are VERY small and don’t expect much in the form of an “upgrade” if you’re a high-level Marriott Bonvoy member. My first room was very hot, and the beds were extremely hard. They have NO solution to fix this either. I suggested an extra few mattress pads or even a folded duvet under the sheets but no. They charge a stupid resort fee which honestly just needs to become part of a slightly higher rate and eliminated as an after the fact fee-it covers NOTHING useful for someone like me who can’t take the heat, won’t go to the beach, won’t ride bikes. It’s 100% a money grab and per Marriott Bonvoy T&C (do NOT give the ‘franchisee’ crap, they are SUPPOSED to do it) if enhanced WIFI is a benefit you get as an elite Bonvoy member, you’re supposed to get an alternate item for the price gouge, I mean resort fee. I SHOWED this to them and they shrugged.
When I said that the a/c unit was not working, it took a few hours and 3 calls to the desk for an “engineer” to show up, only to have ZERO clue on what to do. Also, he was carrying a container of paint?! WHY??? You’re coming to a guest’s room to FIX something. Put the paint down. And while I understand that not everyone speaks English as a first language, if you’re in a guest facing role and do NOT understand issues in English, perhaps find someone who can? My Spanish isn’t good enough to explain that the vane/vent in the A/C unit keeps moving when you press the button on the control panel to close it. Sorry, this is not acceptable to me. Fix your broken a/c control panels please. Also, their WIFI speed and/or bandwidth is horrible. I had to use my data plan instead of the so called “enhanced” WIFI at the hotel. I asked about that too and again was met with shrugged shoulders and no one offering to restart the system or investigate further.
The rooms are supposed to be cool and cute but they’re terrible for anyone there longer than one night. They weren’t very clean either. I did get breakfast as a welcome gift for status, but the server didn’t show up and the person filling in was over his head with what to do-and only 3 customers. There were 2 nice staffers, sadly I’ve forgotten the name of the lovely lady in the restaurant who served me lunch. Also, Ivan, one of the managers, was nice but couldn’t offer a solution other than moving me to a room with a king-size bed and a TINY bit more space.
Note that parking is valet only and there is no one to assist with luggage unless you ask a desk clerk. The street-side (Washington Avenue) entrance is busy and not the “main entrance”. That seems to be in the back, on Collins Court.
The Goodtime Hotel does NOT live up to its name whatsoever. Just skip it. Not comfortable, not friendly and no one really cares. I’ve rarely seen such miserable staff in a Marriott property. As a Titanium Elite member for life, and over 30 years of top-level status, this hotel fails miserably in living up to the reputation of the brand. I don’t care if Pharrell Williams and his team are part owners. His money may be there but that’s it-Marriott needs to see what the franchisee is doing. The staff, with 2 exceptions, have horrible attitudes. Stop trying to be popular with influencers and start caring about your guests please.
Do yourself a favor and try the Moxy-since the good times are totally NOT rolling at the Goodtime Hotel.Show More
