We booked here to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and decided to stay for 5 nights in a King Room. On arrival we were given our room key (room 1239) and after a long day flying from the U.K.,...We booked here to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and decided to stay for 5 nights in a King Room. On arrival we were given our room key (room 1239) and after a long day flying from the U.K., were looking forward to getting in and resting. When we opened the door to our room, I genuinely thought I’d gone into a service corridor or storage room or something like that. The room was dark, badly worn and 100% not what we had booked or paid for, i.e. a King Room with the lovely floor to ceiling windows as so prominently advertised on the Line’s website. We went back to the check in desk and were told they were fully booked to try again in the morning and they’d move us. Stuck between a rock and a hard place we went to bed. In the morning we asked again if there was any actual King Rooms available. Again, they were fully booked but “42 rooms come available tomorrow so we’ll move you then”. Again, not ideal but what could we do?! Next morning rolls around, back at the desk, “yeah we could move you to the room you booked and paid for but then we’d have to put someone in yours”………….. Days later when checking out, speaking to JP and the Manager (I think Beth, my apologies if I’m wrong!) they were both shocked we’d not been looked after or given the room we booked. The Manager waived the amenities fee, which was appreciated but to be frank, was a bit insulting when we’d paid £1500 for the stay and were stuck in a room which I’d say compares to some low end hostels. The room itself was apparently a disabled accessible one. Either way, not what we’d booked despite Booking.com claiming the hotel was at fault, and The Line claiming Booking was at fault. Clearly someone is lying. Regardless of who is at fault, which by the way I am in the process of pursuing action against the mis selling and advertising of the room, we should have either been consulted regarding the room change or given an appropriate room. The manager on check out pointed out that the room “has a King bed”. Apparently this makes it a king room. I pointed out that putting in a king bed in the adjacent parking lot doesn’t make that a king room either. The room itself didn’t have the lovely floor to ceiling windows as advertised. The window was at 90 degrees to another window so we had to have the curtains closed all the time otherwise someone could see directly in. The carpet was filthy and full of stains. The TV was on the wall facing the bed but at the opposite end of the room so watching TV in bed was impossible as the remote wouldn’t work from the bed! All in all, a bad stay at what should’ve been a great anniversary trip for us. I’m waiting to hear back from The Line management as we clearly didn’t get what we’d booked regardless of who is at fault. Avoid.Show More

We were in town for the Austin Food and Wine Festival and despite tiered Marriott membership, decided to give The Line a try.. The location right off the Congress street bridge is great and hotel conc...We were in town for the Austin Food and Wine Festival and despite tiered Marriott membership, decided to give The Line a try.. The location right off the Congress street bridge is great and hotel concept I hoped would stand out among the many hotels in Austin. The concept stood out, but unfortunately as the most apathetic staff I have encountered in quite some time. The lady at checkout, I guess I should apologize I for interrupting her conversation with her friend. The barista in the lobby cafe was also too absorbed in conversation with her friend to actually respond to my wife question as to whether or not the drink she sat down was hers, instead of “you can read the name on the label”, apologies for interrupting you as well. Plot twist - the name wasn’t on the sleeve and in yet another plot twist, she confirmed exactly what the drink was and that it was in fact my wife’s when it was revealed there was actually no name or order on the sleeve.. I understand responding to a hotel and cafe guest with “yes - that’s your latte” can be difficult and cause brain fatigue. Well know better next time. Fast forward to the evening at the Vera Cruz restaurant bar, more of the same; as little engagement as possible. Pour drinks… go back to doing something close to nothing. Pro tip - the glass doors between the pool and Vera Cruz restaurant don’t actually open (I mean why would they right?) as myself and 3 other patrons found out the hard way over the course of half an hour. Need a refill - you’ll need to go back to the bar for that as service must not expand to those actually sitting in the restaurant. Suggestion for the Vera Cruz staff - may want to clean that Modelo draft line as well. There were 2 standouts though amongst the weekend that will be our first and last at The Line. The coconut washed mezcal cocktail at P6 is something special. Kudos to whomever invented that delicacy - seriously my new favorite. Additionally the gentleman who managed our checkout was very polite and helpful - thank you for the assistance and extended period on the valet while we loaded up. If the staff is a reflection of management, I suspect this review will be met with an eye roll, shoulder shrug, and the obligatory pre-approved copy/paste response synonymous with the apathy running wild at the corner of Congress and Cesar Chavez. Maybe some concepts are better left in LA, but I won’t roll the dice again next time I’m out that way.Show More

In retrospect, we should've just stayed at FS however we thought the Line looked fun and boutique-ish. Room was not bad, bigger than we expected. View was nice. BUT, ether TV (2) worked even after maintenance came to look at it. Phones didn't work either when I tried to call down to report issue. Maintenance said it was a network issue and IT would need to be contacted. Never heard back from either. At checkout the next morning, the front desk did offer a minimal credit fora courtesy (which was fine but minimal). However, upon returning home and working on an expense report I noticed I was charged incorrectly for ‘mini bar-liquor’ that we definitely DID NOT use. In fact, we DID NOT use any item from the minibar. Upon noticing I emailed a manager at The Line and explained politely we expected the charge to be reversed - STILL NO RESPONSE a week later. Seriously, no response. I also messaged The Line’s social media teams via Instagram and Facebook - and also NO RESPONSE. So, the erroneous charge still remains but needs to be removed. As of today, no response from 3 different avenues. My advice to readers of the review is BUYER BEWARE if risking a stay at The Line. Subpar services and then no response to incorrect charges are insane in this day and age. I plan to follow up on this via all channels as this is poor customer serviceShow More

The first room they gave me had no view. In hindsight, maybe I should have stayed in that room. The second room had a nice view of the river. After returning to the room in the evening, I noticed the AC was set to 69 degrees but it was about 85 degrees in the room . I notified the front desk and they sent up a technician who tried to tell me the system was operating normally. He tried to explain to me how an AC unit works. The fan was on Auto and the temp was set to 69. The AC ran continuously because it never cooled the room properly. Then he led me to the bathroom and opened a panel in the ceiling where he proceeded to show me that the motor was recently replaced. Who cares, it’s still not working! Because I booked this room through Southwest Hotels I was unable to get any satisfaction from the hotel, including the manager. Correction, they offered me a free breakfast. I would not stay at this hotel again if they paid me. The lobby is kind of cool but you don’t have to stay at the hotel to visit the lobby. On my next trip to Austin I stayed at the JW Marriott. Now that’s a hotel. Spend a little more and stay there. I’m very disappointed not only in the room but in managements response to the problem. Mechanical issues are one thing but when management doesn’t do the right thing it tells you something about the hotel…and it’s not good.Show More
