If you're attending a convention at San Diego Convention Center, this is the best location not only for service, great staff and excellent food/drinks but the rooms as well! The rooms are clean, beds are comfy and I love that use Pathwater bottles for water in the room! So nice to see a hotel using reuseables and recyclables. Noise level was pretty quiet besides random sirens and other random things, and we went during Twitch Con, but we rested very well. Front desk staff amazing and kind. Wait staff superb, fun and knowledgeable. Bar staff simply the best. The star of the this property is Lindsey the bartender at this amazing property... Not only is she going to fill you with sunshine, good vibes and an unforgettable experience... Her skills, knowledge and dedication to excellent customer service is without a doubt the best in all of San Diego and I've stayed at virtually every hotel in the area many times. I learned so much from her and she truly has passions for work and experience she provides to each and every guest even during busy times but also in her personal life as well. We went to a conference at the SD convention center. Because of the current administration's funding yanking around, we weren't sure if we'd be funded to attend the conference, but funding did finally...We went to a conference at the SD convention center. Because of the current administration's funding yanking around, we weren't sure if we'd be funded to attend the conference, but funding did finally come through. With kinda late registration/reservations, we booked into Hilton Gaslamp (we are usually at a differnet hotel directly connected to the convention center). The room we got was in the "lofts". The room is reasonably comfie, but there are almost no outlets for charging computers, phones etc. most of the lights in the room are impossible to turn on, strange choices of wiring. To get to the "lofts" you have to enter the main hotel, then either go one flight up on stairs or elevator, then go outside across a courtyard then take stairs or elevator to walk to an outdoor corridor to get to a hallway to the room. It's not an easy or comfie access to get in. Then, the ice machine is back outside into another corridor, to a hallway by other rooms. It is s strange configuration. And the fact that it happened to be rainy all week in SD made all of the outside accesss stuff super awkward. The gaslamp main drag outside our window was kinda loud too.Show More

The flank steak has been really good as well. When you go in, try to see if Melissa is working as a server and if Carl is in the kitchen. Melissa is very friendly and service oriented and her experience shows! Carl in the kitchen prepares the food really well. There's your A-team right there!Show More

We booked a room at the Lofts section of this Hilton Gaslamp Quarter and were very impressed. Safe to say, as long as the price doesn't blow out we will be booking this hotel for our future stays in S...We booked a room at the Lofts section of this Hilton Gaslamp Quarter and were very impressed. Safe to say, as long as the price doesn't blow out we will be booking this hotel for our future stays in San Diego. Our loft room was overlooking 5th Avenue and despite the crazy loud pool party happening across the road during the day, our room and our nights rest was very quiet. The building is very well insulated and noise was not a concern for us, even as light sleepers. The room itself is massive ... easily one of the largest rooms we've stayed at in a downtown hotel in recent times. There is very large, seperate living area with a pull out sofa, small dinig table, bar area, tv etc that was a great place to relax and spread out our belongings. The bedroom and bathroom are both also large and well equipped. In terms of the property itself, there is no self parking so parking can be tricky if you don't want to spend $65 a night on valet. We used SpotHero to find a parking garage close by for $20 a night which worked perfectly. The entrance to the Lofts area can be pretty confusing. There is no entry off 5th Avenue however there is a large staircase just next to Lou and Mickeys restaurant which is gated and takes you into a courtyard area of the lofts. From there, you take the elevator up and walk around to the hallway. It is a little confusing and seems to be set up like an apartment complex (perhaps thats what it was meant to be originally?), but once you've done it once it's very simple. Just be aware if you have lots of bags that it is a bit of a trek to get to your room. I'm not sure if there is a way to get to the lofts from the main Hilton entrance, however if you do have lots of bags, it may be worth having a porter deliver them to you. The location couldn't be any better. Literally in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, with a light rail stop a few steps away and Petco Park a few minutes walk away. Honestly if you are looking for a central location, this hotel is fantastic. There is a resort fee however we were surprised to see it included 2 hours of bike rentals per day for each guest, as well as wifi etc so it does offset the fee. Overall, this hotel was a pleasant surprise and we are definitely going to book it as our first choice for our regular San Diego trips.Show More
