It i...We reserved a room block at Hotel Lincoln for our daughter’s 300 guest wedding in February. We chose the hotel, based on a friend of a friend’s recommendation, for its terrific location and cost. It is in a good spot for out of towners to wander and some guests even went across the street to the Lincoln Park Zoo! The hotel vibe is quirky and some areas are in need of updates. The J Parker rooftop has wonderful views but the atrium area was under renovation so many gathered in the bar area. Guests also made use of the Americano restaurant and Elaine’s coffee shop which were conveniently accessible through the hotel. We had a 20+ room block. The suites were a nice size and newly renovated. Some standard guest rooms had been renovated and others had not but I did not hear any complaints; those rooms and all bathrooms were of a small size typical with city hotels. We had a beautiful lake and park view. The weather the day before the wedding was classic Chicago - ice and snow storms. We had no issues with parking in the suggested nearby open lot or with the valet (though a little slow); some guests chose to use SpotHero. The coach buses that brought guests to and from the reception were able to pick up and drop off near the hotel. The front desk staff, manager on duty, Alyson the conference manager and Jesica the meeting manager were a pleasure - attentive, responsive and patient in answering my many, many, many questions and going the extra mile. The front desk passed out the gift bags that we made for our guests. It was an extremely good experience.show more

We were looking for a place to stay that was close to where my daughter lives, and Hotel Lincoln fit the bill. It also coincided with my boyfriends and my anniversary, so after booking I emailed the management and let them know. Our flight got into town early morning, and we got in contact with Hotel Lincoln asking them if we could drop off our luggage. They not only said we could drop off our luggage, but that our room was ready then. They had gotten my email, and they had upgraded us to a better room. It was a wonderful suite that had great views of the city, and plenty of room to spread out. It made the trip very special, and it was very nice of them to accomodate us so well. Everything in the room was updated and very nice. We loved the Nespresso machine in the room, and bed was very comfortable. The location was also great being across from Lincoln Park we were able to stroll there each morning. It was a 5 minute walk to the train, and not bad at all to get downtown and everywhere else we went for the weekend.show more

I booked the hotel as part of a package with BA and have mixed reviews of my stay. Location wise it was great, easy to get around and spectacular views of Lake Michigan and Lincoln Park. Room was tired and in need of freshening up but overall it was adequate for our needs. The hotel was really let down by the front desk staff, especially Daniel and Megan. Daniel was uber keen to charge my card for incidentals but not very helpful when asked about anything else. Megan appeared not interested in her job and was very rude. It seemed everything was an effort and when the wifi wasn’t working and I enquired she said oh yeah it’s not working guess I should call someone! Luckily the bar next door had wifi so we could use it to find buses etc as asking at the front desk for some help was like I’d asked them to donate a kidney! It was a good location for the marathon, although didn’t seem to make much of a deal of it unlike other hotels we walked past. Shame really as other than the staff we had an enjoyable stay in Chicago.show more

Beyond that, this hotel needs to be completely gutted and refurbished. My room (and I have mid-tier status with Hyatt’s loyalty program) was a disgrace. There was paint and texturing falling off the bathroom ceiling, the wallpaper was peeling, the shower tiles mouldy and stained. The two bedside lamps were on the verge of disintegrating. Much of the woodwork (doorframes, etc.) looked like it had been hacked to pieces. The TV was about the same size as my iPad, and looked like it was mounted by a child - lots of wires sticking out. The HVAC consisted of an in-wall unit that looked like it came straight out of a 1970’s motor lodge. Allow ample time to get to and from your room using the elevators. They’re slow, small and packed at peak times. Don’t get too excited for a nice view from your room. Unless, of course, you enjoy the sight of duck works and fire escapes. The others in my party had similar issues with their rooms. I will not be back to Hotel Lincoln.show more
