The valet ...This is property gets 5 stars for location and service. It is quite expensive because it is an upscale experience where the staff and accommodations are Top Notch and the Location is Prime. The valet was quick to move cars and keep things moving! They even have a couple shuttles... one big Escalade and one Sprinter van. They provided shuttles to and from the Del Mar racetrack which was very much appreciated. I assume these same shuttles can take you short distances around the area too other than the racetrack. They also have a beach golf cart that can take you to/from the beach and to short distances in the main part of town. Doug is especially delightful; we saw him several times and he always greeted us cheerfully and asked about our day. The front desk is quick and efficient. I appreciated the text messages they sent welcoming us. We saw that they offer yoga classes. I'd suggest calling the property for times and sign-up information as they may change from day to day. The location of the one yoga class we saw was outside on their 2nd floor deck which was not covered nor shaded. So, be prepared for a "hot" yoga class if it is sunny and warm outside like it was the weekend we were there. The views though from the 2nd floor deck are beautiful though as you look out towards the ocean. They did provide yoga mats, so you don't need to bring your own. The one downside.... is if you want an adult get-away, this may not be the property for you nor me. On the one occasion that we wanted to use the hot tub, there were kids in the hot tub with floaties thereby blocking anyone else from using said amenity. And then they proceeded to hop back and forth from the pool to the hot tub with their floaties. I don't know if the floaties were provided by the hotel or not, but we stayed for about an hour, and then left not wanting to wait any longer since it appeared they were going to enjoy themselves for quite some time. Perhaps we should have come some other time that was not a holiday weekend. 100% my own fault for not investigating the property better.Show More

While it was nice...This isn't the style of place I would normally select, but I had some special visitors from out of town coming to see me, and it seemed like a good base. I left feeling very meh. While it was nice to receive champagne upon check-in, we were placed in two rooms at the opposite end of the resort. The first thing I noticed when coming into the rooms was that they were clean and somewhat comfortable but also relatively dated. It's never a good start when you realize there is no power at the bedside to plug your phone in, except for dated USB connections. We got one of the nicer rooms, but unfortunately, the balcony faced the parking lot and the busy road. The blind situation was terrible, and the wooden louvres did nothing to keep the morning light out. The resort has no beach access. While there is a view of the ocean, it's not as close as the photos might suggest. The resort is in need of some TLC with some dirty and faded paint on the exterior. The biggest bugbear was the tiny shower which made having a shower somewhat intolerable. About one-third of the shower was cut out by an angular wall. The shower head was very low and hit my head, and the shelf for amenities kept getting in the way, which made for a somewhat claustrophobic experience. The pool was relatively small, but that didn't matter because most of the outdoor area was overtaken by a wedding event. It's always frustrating when you show up on a hot Saturday sunny weekend. We were situated near a service area, which meant that we woke to the sound of cleaners slamming the service door over and over again with no regard for guests. The experience was okay, but it's not somewhere I would recommend or return to. To cap it all off, the mandatory valet at $65 a day is just profit taking - and it took forever to get my car.Show More

We were visiting to celebrate the babymoon we never had the chance to take and this stay turned out to be exactly what we needed as a family. A huge thank you to the valet team, especially Michael and Sean, who honestly made the entire experience unforgettable. They not only remembered our names, but also greeted our two kids by name every single time they saw us. That kind of personalized attention was so heartwarming and rare. Doug, the beach valet went above and beyond. He was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, giving us great local recommendations and helping us get set up at the beach, no small feat considering how much gear we were juggling with the kids in tow. The front desk staff handled everything with a sense of urgency and genuine kindness, which made check-in and any requests throughout our stay feel smooth and stress-free. Our room was spotless, and the housekeeping team was just as impressive, even tracking down a pair of scissors for us right away without hesitation. The restaurant staff were friendly and warm, and room service was excellent and prompt (a blessing with kids!). The concierge team added a special touch to our stay, making us feel celebrated in a meaningful way. We were also thrilled to be able to extend our stay one more night, even though that extra night wasn’t available during booking. It felt like the entire team worked together to make it happen. The hotel has undergone a nice cosmetic remodel, but they didn’t improve the infrastructure. As a result, our bathroom (Room 311) couldn’t provide a hot shower 2 of our 3 nights. When paying over $1k ...The hotel has undergone a nice cosmetic remodel, but they didn’t improve the infrastructure. As a result, our bathroom (Room 311) couldn’t provide a hot shower 2 of our 3 nights. When paying over $1k per night, that’s unacceptable. The hotel engineer said the 3 floors for rooms ending in “11” share one circulation pump and no tank, and the line gets full of air. Well if that’s true, fix the problem. Also the tiny fitness room was a joke, with just 1 yoga mat and no room to stretch. Also, not enough power outlets for all our devices. And the room safe is in a cabinet above a small drink refrigerator. The safe was so hot I decided not to put my devices in it. Didn’t want to cook my iPad. Also, only 2 old slow small elevators and no service elevator. Make sure you know how to exit in an ER, because the 2 wings of the hotel don’t really connect. It turns out the beach is about a half-mile hike down a steep slope and across the train tracks and a congested beach street. Seeing the CA Coastside train pass by in a tiny space next to beach front homes was really mind-boggling. Better see that now, as hubby says the track is falling into the ocean. My complaining aside, the hotel service and food was excellent, the restaurant had an opera singer at Sunday dinner, a convenient walk to some great restaurants, and fiber-speed internet. Also had a ton of guests with dogs. There were double weddings every day and the hotel lobby was incredibly noisy, so it seems to be a popular venue. Just not one we will return to.Show More
