Everything from the front desk, conceirge, valet, restaurant staff, pool bar and room service was impeccable. I splurged staying here as this wouldn't be something I could do on a regular basis but if you can treat yourself for a couple of nights, you will not regret the splurge. Separate note, the hotel is historic and has that old school vintage authentic feel and is so well maintained. They didn't miss a second of detail anywhere. I hope I get to stay here again. The food was amazing. And you must check out their bar. Such a special experience in so many ways and I was traveling solo. The friendliness of the waitstaff, Andrew, specifically was exceptional and first class. Thank you so much La Valencia. Picture of my pancakes below. I never take pictures of food. It was so beautiful, I started at for 5 minutes before I took a bite and it tasted as good as it looks. :)))))))) Ohhh to top it off, I left my work binder there and they texted me the same day to let me know and overnighted it to me the next day. Wow, blown away at every angle. They covered it! Forgot to mention it is the heart of La Jolla, on the ocean and in the center of the village. Best location ever. Best hotel experience I ever had and I have stayed at Four Seasons.Show More

La Valencia, the pink lady, is known to be one of the best most gorgeous hotels in all of San Diego, and for good reason. Not only is the property stunning (and I have stayed at my fair share of 5 star hotels around the world), but the service is impeccable too. I hosted my wedding here this month, and every part from the site visit, to the menu tasting, to the room blocks, to the incredible service at the pool (Mike is the absolute best and took care of everything we needed!), was perfect from start to finish. My room was ready at 9AM the morning of my rehersal, well before my 4PM checkin, and all my bags were brought to my room immediately. I received nothing but compliments from 90+ guests, and it is a true testament to the hotel, to Bobby, Dani, Mike, and every other single staff member of this hotel. I went into two separate rooms and both were clean and well-maintained. Quiet hours in La Jolla and at the hotel start at 10PM, so late night noise is not an issue. The hotel is walking distance to a number of restaurants and bars, and lots of great shops. The food here is amazing as well-- a true full-service experience. We are already talking about having a yearly vacation here to celebrate our anniversary, and I cannot wait to go back.Show More

Musty smell pervasive. smelled like dog urine (which they allow dogs)... the view for us was a dumpster and grafiti from our "garden view King"... the fire escape was completely rusted outside our window (room 810). No where to place our toiletries around the single sink so we had to put them on the toilet seat! NO chest of drawers to put clothing in. Had to use an open suitcase on the floor. It is obvious that the hotel rooms have not been updated or renovated in decades. The focus is being a wedding factory and its restaurants. The charges to stay there are outrageous. It is truck stop worthy at best. DO NOT STAY THERE. Spiders are welcome ( on the drapes) and the access to the shower required climbing over a 12" wide shelf which if someone was not athletic, was not easy. Coming out of the shower was DANGEROUS as one foot was wet in the tub and you easily could have slipped climbing out. The ADA would never allow that room to be rented. The carpet had not been replaced or cleaned or both in decades.Show More

Very early California. We expected Bing Crosby and Gregory Peck to stroll by! 😎 Our reception started at 4:30 pm. We had a tabled dinner and a bar. Also a classical guitarist. Umbrellas for shade and beautiful strung lights. My eyes are filling with tears. The flowers, the table setting, the music was unbelievably beautiful. Our servers were 5 Star. Excellent. The food : equal to any New York top notch restaurant. Our guests had either Filet Mignon ( maybe these steaks were 8 ounces! ) , grilled salmon, grilled chicken or vegetarian. Appetizer: crab cakes. Perfect. Dessert: chocolate mousse. Amazing. The Catering Manager is Bobby Fader, a real pro. A big shout out for his organization, crew and friendliness. Our attendees noted later that they felt like they were treated as celebrities. 😊Show More
