I will start with the positive there were a couple, but more negatives than positives for sure. In no way is this a 5 star property and worth the money in it's current condition.
Positives
1) Beach Staff (Chairs) - we worked with Anthony on the beach he was attentive, kind, and professional. The entire beach staff worked hard accommodate requests and make sure water was always available
2) Drew in the "Family Room" Drew was our waiter and was extremely kind and pleasant. One of the best we had on the trip
3) Location - The hotel is at the farther end of the main street which lends itself to a more quiet atmosphere away from the bars. The beach area was clean and accessible and when we were there the ocean was fantastic, although the W can't take credit for that.
4) View from the room was great.
Negatives:
Service
1) Front Desk. We arrived later on Thursday evening. The young lady at the front desk was difficult to understand and with the music loud from the lobby bar, was hard to hear. Our Marriott Platinum Elite status was never acknowledged by the staff. They did not communicate much regarding the hotel, amenities layout etc. To be frank the staff seemed to be a bit annoyed with our check in process. It was later, I guess it could be the end of a shift. The morning of day 2, we returned to the front desk to address issues with the room with Nasheed (SP) , I believe that was his name. One the in room refrigerator was broken, the door would not shut and would not allow for anything to be cooled 2) the vanity mirror my wife would use was broken. Neither of these were addressed by the staff but I was able to fix the Vanity mirror on my own. The refrigerator remained broken and unresolved. Pictures are attached.
2) Room Cleanliness. The carpet was dirty, browned out especially near the entrance, a good steam cleaning would go a long way. The walls were stained with some kind of moisture leak and we found part of a used rubber glove on the floor, maybe the room hadn't been cleaned/vacuumed before our arrival. Also, on the 2nd day of our stay, the room was not cleaned at all by staff leaving us with no clean towels etc.. by this point in our stay and only 1 day left and the lack or responsiveness we just decided to go with what we had. Pictures attached of Rubber glove piece and wall stains.
3) POOL - when booking the room on Marriott's site no where did it mention that the Main pool, with the main pool deck was under construction and not accessible. One reason in choosing this hotel was the pool overlooking the ocean. The secondary pool was ok. very small, and extremely limited seating. Not mentioning the renovation on the website and that the big pool was unavailable was very disappointing. Thank goodness the beach was close.
I left Hilton a few years ago and only stay at Marriott Properties. However, this property disappointed and did not meet the standards set by Marriott for it's "Luxury" properties. Definitely not worth the money they charged for this stay.Show More
