My last visit to Hong Kong I stayed at Hotel Icon which remained my favorite hotel of all time for several years, due in large part to the impeccable customer service. It was only after my recent expe...My last visit to Hong Kong I stayed at Hotel Icon which remained my favorite hotel of all time for several years, due in large part to the impeccable customer service. It was only after my recent experience at Hotel 41 in London was the Icon supplanted from that position. During my recent stay at the Mandarin HK, I seriously contemplated a new #1 all-time hotel and the Mandarin just barely misses out. We had a harbor view suite which was gorgeous and perfectly laid out. The complimentary breakfast was something we looked forward to each morning, not just because of the good variety and quality, but the friendly and almost intuitive service we would inevitably receive from all staff members. The breakfast was held in the Mandarin Lounge which also holds a daily tea time and cocktail hour for club members. It’s a great place to relax and have a bite or drink and soak in the breathtaking harbor and HK skyline. I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the INCREDIBLE SERVICE provided by Sameer and the entire club lounge staff. Sameer was there to greet us during our private check in and was there at our beck and call throughout our stay. No request or question was too difficult or bothersome and Sameer and the concierge and lounge staff went above and beyond to basically cater to our every need. I have traveled to many many countries and stayed at some of the finest hotels in the world and unfortunately this level of service is not a given or frankly even common at many “5 star” hotels. For reasons I will not get into now I give the slightest edge to Hotel 41 but because of our experience at the Mandarin Hong Kong, I will definitely be inclined to stay at other Mandarin Hotels for our future travels— it is absolutely true that the quality and consistent guest service is what distinguishes the Mandarin from other luxury hotels. If you visit Hong Kong I would place the Mandarin at the top of your short list. On a side note, wait the 15-20 minutes to get a small stool inside of Sister Wahs—the brisket and noodles are some of the best in the world and worth the wait!Show More

Oct 27-Nov 4.From the start the check in supervisor Angie is extremely cordial and professional and personally accompany us to an early complimentary breakfast(cause I joined the MO club-check out all their priviledges)She also personally accompanied us to our room when available .The room has old charm but all modern amenities including a button for immediate service.We are foodies and like a variety of foods ( not drinkers and not big steak eaters) so we frequent the Clipper lounge daily for their immense variety of buffet items -including large fresh variety of both chinese ,eastern and western items with daily changes.Again the service in the restaurant is superb-get to know Paul and Vincent.Also we enjoyed afternoon tea at the MO club with their fantastic view.and Vicky and all the club personnels are extremely nice.The overall room charge is comparable to all 5 star hotels but the services and personnel staff is super not one negative incidence and .with the personal help of Angie and the concierge staff we did much shopping and also took a day trip to Macau and another day trip to visit the Big Buddha,Weather has been kind, cloudy but not rainy and mild temp for this time of the year.Overall Hong Kong is very clean safe and orderly with endless shopping ,eating and sight seeing places and we are already planning another trip middle of next year to Hong Kong and definitely staying at the Mandaring Oriental hotel in the Central district-this is the original and Flagship Mandarin Oriental of their vast chain of luxury hotels all over the world.Show More

My wife and I stayed at the Mandarin for 5 nights in late October. It must have been the best stay we can remember in any hotel, in any place in the world! While checking in we were greeted by Sasha, ...My wife and I stayed at the Mandarin for 5 nights in late October. It must have been the best stay we can remember in any hotel, in any place in the world! While checking in we were greeted by Sasha, which promptly checked us in and made sure all our needs were taken cared of. We were surprised that she knew the requests that were made from a previous stay 2 years ago! She then personally guided us to our room. This is really amazing service. In most hotels that we stay at, we are usually disappointed with the house keeping, but not at MANDARIN ORIENTAL Hong Kong. Every time we return to our room, everything was in perfect order; it was as if we had just checked in. All the towels have been changed, the bed fixed and our bedroom slippers neatly arranged, waiting for us. I also need to mention the Manager Fiona. We had a very minor concern with our sink that we called the front desk to fix right before we left the hotel. When we got back later in the evening, we found a note stating that the issue has been resolved and that they were sorry this ever happened. In my mind, no apologies were ever needed as this was extremely minor. The next evening, the phone rang and Fiona was on the other line personally apologizing for the sink. My mind was blown! The manager of the hotel called to apologize for an issue that a different hotel might not even promptly fix. The last mention would have to go to Alba of the front desk which was very gracious and took care of us also. After this stay, our next visit to Hong Kong might not be because of the beautiful city, it's because of the amazing hotel! Thank you to everyone at MANDARIN ORIENTAL Hong Kong!Show More
