There is a li...Beautiful Victorian style hotel featuring lots of chandeliers, paintings and carved wood panelling. Great location only couple of minutes walk from Gloucester Road underground station. There is a lift which seemed to have a mind of its own, we called it from ground floor and it didn’t stop (twice) and eventually arrived at the 3rd call after the button light kept going out and no lift, it seemed to keep missing the ground floor. The surrounding area was nice and quiet considering the location. The superior double on the 5th floor was comfortable although very compact and the room size was just about ok for a short weekend break but way too small for longer durations and the shower cubicle was so narrow you couldn’t bend down to pick up shower gel etc. as there was no caddy/shelf. I had to rest my shower gel on top of the door. The Wi-Fi from the room was not great and such a poor signal, I had to use my mobile data. There was a tea/coffee box sticking out of the wall which could probably be better located somewhere else in a room that’s short of space. Lovely lounge bar with a big marble fireplace, large TV for live sports, large sofas and a couple of great draft beers. The reception staff provided us with a discount voucher that we used and had a nice meal in the bar. The cream tea was also very good. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and you can choose from self-service continental or order hot breakfast from the à la carte menu. Full English was perfect. Overall very good hotel for a short break, close to Kensington gardens and Hyde Park. Tube station just round the corner. Service provided was excellent and staff were all very helpful, warm and friendly. Suggest adding some power/USB charging sockets near the bed and some extra hooks in the bathroom. I’d say good value for money in this area.Show More

Hotel was extremely hot, even with all the windows open. The rooms look very tired, and the old nature of the building means floors are squeaky and you are easily disturbed by those in the rooms above...Hotel was extremely hot, even with all the windows open. The rooms look very tired, and the old nature of the building means floors are squeaky and you are easily disturbed by those in the rooms above. Mattresses are very firm, and covers just about reached from one side to the other in a double room. Breakfast was disappointing, especially if you require a vegan option, and the extra £5 to upgrade to a full breakfast from a £19.50 continental (!) doesn’t help. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is relatively quiet in terms of road noise etc. for its central location.Show More
