It is a modern lan...This was my first year attending the New York Wine Experience, organized by Wine Spectator magazine and held at the Marriott Marquis in New York. The hotel is modern, yet not new. It is a modern landmark in New York, with "The View" a revolving restaurant and bar/lounge on the top two floors. The advantage of 'modern but not new" is the rooms are large! There is plenty of space. The "not new" part means our room had a bathtub, not a walk in shower, but that is not a big deal. There were no USB ports for plugging in the phone or other devices (or I could not find them.) That was a surprise. The views are great. The hotel is designed around a hollow, central atrium, reaching to the top of the building. There is a central,. circular bank of elevators, some with glass walls. The security is great. You place your room card on a monitor screen. It tells you which elevator to use. Once inside, there are no floor buttons! It only goes to your floor. When things get busy, multiple guests might be assigned the same elevator. Only those floors light up on a panel inside the elevator. This means when you choose your floor, you might need to dash to the elevator, so it does not leave without you. Marriott has rebranded their concierge or executive lounges as M-Clubs throughout the system. This one is fantastic! Because the hotel is large, the club is huge! The breakfast buffet selection is enormous! We were very impressed. This was an expensive stay. I checked prices when I booked the conference in the Spring. I checked again a week before we arrived. The price was about $750/night. I booked using Marriott Bonvoy points instead. Would we stay here again? Yes.Show More

I pre-checked in with an electronic key and w...Construction on premises causing disturbances in rest and sleep. I would rate this experience a 1 very low score. Upon checkin, the hotel seemed nice. I pre-checked in with an electronic key and was given my room #. Upon arrival I was told by the front desk that they provided me with a “mini-suite” upgrade and give me a physical key card. When I went to my room they told a lie, it was a regular room - same room number from before (not good) from my electronic sing in, not a good start. In the morning around 8am, a loud hammering noise started over my bed, it then turned into a violently loud drilling noise. I called the front desk about the disturbance and asked the manager to come up to hear the severity of the noise and she stated “I believe you”, she did not show up. This tells me that they were aware of a problem with construction noise at the hotel. For compensation, she offered me a $15 dollar coupon for the restaurant. This was very insulting. The hotel has a massive ongoing construction that is not posted on the website or was ever communicated to guest. Don’t book here if you want to sleep!Show More

But coming from the Uk where every thing is so much smaller. Check in was quick and it was dark when we got to the room. And I had asked for a floor to ceiling view but you never know what your going to get. So on opening the door to the room I could see flashing lights behind the curtains. I will never forget opening those curtains to the best view I have ever had. Omg. It will live with me forever. 28th floor looking towards to stairs on Times Square seeing everything. No noise at all though for all of its busyness and noise. We changed and headed straight out. Anyone looking at visiting New York you must it’s like a movie scene around every corner. We loved it and I found this hotel to be big, busy and exactly as I had hoped. Would definitely stay here again. Room was enormous plenty of room for everything. Very very comfy beds. No complaints at all. The open terrace wasn’t open when we visited but I’ll do that next time. Thank you for making my sons 21st and my 50th a celebration we will never forget.Show More
