4/10 Hospitality at it’s worst
My stay at the Marriott Marquis in NYC was quite disappointing. I was staying at the hotel for a group meeting held at the hotel. Check-in was great and Justin C at the Front Desk (FD) should be commended. The second day is where everything fell off the rails. At about 10:00 am I had a VM from the hotel stating there was a “mix-up” and they were changing my room (mind you I was with a group holding all day long conferences - which were held in the hotels’ convention space). After the long day I go to the elevator bank and my room key was disabled. I go to the front desk to see what is going on and how you can move someones room without there consent/aknowledgement and immediately the FD Agent said she cannot help me as I am not “calm enough.” I have worked in hospitality, including the FD at the Four Seasons, if I had reacted that way to ANY guest I would have been fired immediately. Since this FDA was unwilling to assist in any way shape or form I requested the manager. As I am waiting she is still giving me a poor atitude and while checking in another guest allows the other guest and I to have a confrontation. Had she been polite and tried to deescalate the situation, or at least offer a manager herself if unable/unwilling to assist instead of escalating the situation it could have been resolved very civily and easily. She even threatened to call security on me - let me reiterate deescalate and provide Customer Service not fuel to the fire - this is indeed your job afterall. The Front Desk Manager finally got to me, I believe Vinny, and brought me away from the situation and had to figure out what happened himself. Unknown was what room my belongings were in, and how my room got changed in the first place. Kudos to him, and Justin C again as we were at his station for diffusing the situation. Finally, we figured my personal items must be in my original room. Vinny and Justin were able to upgrade my room and provide some Marriott points for the incident. I am a loyal HIlton Diamond Member and am unlikely to ever stay at a Marriott branded hotel ever again. The hotel might be nice on the outside but the team members who work there (not all) make me wonder how they can allow people like the FDA get hired or keep a job in hospitality. If you are only willing to assit guests when they are happy, you need to work in a job where interaction with others is nonexistent. Another point of mention: the banquet dinner. There was a salmon option and a vegetarian option. I do NOT eat fish so requested the vegetarian option. The hotel ran out of the vegetarian option. Thus, after the whole fiasco at the front desk I had to wait over an hour for an alternate meal option (I was not the only person at my table this happened to either). When we were finally served the meal it was pasta with marinara sauce on it - not the eggplant option listed. I know this is not solely on the hotel (as the group I was with has a small part to blaim with this portion); however, a big hotel like this that handles banquet meals regularly should be prepared to have alternative options, espcially when there is only 1 primary meal option. I spoke with the banquet manager but there were no alterantive meals available. For the banquet incident I say “failure to plan is planning to fail.” ALWAYS have ample alternate meals if no REAL option is provided. IE: only having salmon and a few vegetarian alternative options.

8/10 Great hotel in a great location for Christmas week
We went to New York City for the first time in 40 years during Christmas week. We arrived on Christmas Day and left hours before New Year’s Eve. The crowds in the 10 square block area around Times Square are always chaotic and it was amazing how busy it was even by my standards. Our room was very nice, clean and surprisingly quiet. I asked for a room that could see the Time Square but not immediately overlooking Times Square. Everything was clean and comfortable. We ate breakfast in the M club as we are titanium members. The breakfast selections were huge and the food was always very good. We had Christmas dinner in the hotel because we flew on Christmas Day. The food was good, but not great because that was a huge volume of people. Over the course of the next several days, we had several meals in the restaurants downstairs. The service was always fair, but the food was always pretty good. As expected, there is a huge number of people that stay at this gigantic hotel and especially at this time of year it was probably extra crazy busy. The location of this hotel cannot be beat. We could see the Time Square ball drop area in addition to many other extractions, different windows. We worked extensively too pretty much all the major sites in New York City. If you can afford this hotel, it’s definitely worth it because of the location. It was very expensive and it did seem as though it was one of the giant Las Vegas hotels. We decided to stay here because we plan to go to NYC just once and wanted to do it up right.

8/10 Fine Marriott Marquis Stay
The location: close to Broadway Theatres and subway stops. Very safe. The staff: very kind and helpful both in person and on the phone. Security is top tier too. Housekeeping cleaned up everyday Food delivery: very quick. The in hotel food was fine. Elevators are very fast (once you get used to how they work The room: very spacious. Bed was comfy and cozy. Shower warmed up quickly and good pressure Internet had a good connection Really enjoyed the pillow spray!

8/10 Nicer than we thought
My wife and I typically avoid Times Square like the plague when we're in the city and like to venture out to other areas. We ended up staying here for a conference and we were surprised that we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is expensive (given the location), but we had a conference rate, so that helped a lot. The staff were kind and very friendly and the room was surprisingly quiet as well. The bathroom was nice and had good water pressure, but the heating in the room was very hit or miss, so that was a bit of a downside. The location is the big key here as it's directly in Times Square and you can get to anything you need from here, particularly if you're going to a Broadway show. It's a nice hotel overall!

8/10 Surprisingly nice hotel in the midst of NYC chaos
Overall a surprisingly nice stay. Attended for a work conference happening at the hotel When I arrived, it felt like A LOT. A lot happening in the lobby - lights, people, activity. Lobby is in 8th floor. First floor entry felt like a zoo. So at first, I wasn’t sure. But the room itself was nicely appointed and clean and quiet. And the M club lounge was one of the nicest ever. I needed a late checkout (platinum member) and they were accommodating. So I am torn but will likely return. Coming back for work, I’m torn about it. But when coming to NYC with my teenagers for fun - this hotel will be on the top of the list.

My favorite things about the property is the quality of the hotel itself and the kindness of the staff. It is located at the heart of Times Square, it is clean, efficient, and everyone is beyond helpful!

10/10 A phenomenal mother/daughter weekend - we only stay at the Marriott Marquis when we come to NYC!!!
Loved our Times Square view. Cost is a bit high but worth it for the venue. LOVED the View rotating restaurant and the bar in the lobby was awesome too. Also, we have never seen such a great gift shop. Everything you could need or want is there. Also, GREAT staff from the front desk, hostesses, bartenders and waiters, to the bellmen, security. Truly a 5 star experience from every angle. Can't beat the location for going to Broadway shows. Loved the hotel remodel and it was great being back.

7/10 12 years ago I was in the same hotel and the experience was wonderful. this time less.
the room facilities were very very basic. didnt feel like 5 star hotel at all. not even a shower hat... no nothing. cleaning was not so good. no Nespresso machine or water in the room. this is basic things for Marriott or any other hotel at this level.

10/10 PERFECT LOCATION
The location of this hotel is PERFECT! We had room 1621 and it had an amazing view of Time Square. We could see Midnight Moments from our room (All the electronic billboards in Time Square display the same art nightly from 11:57 PM to Midnight). Everything was within walking distance. We saw two musicals. We walked to Rockefeller Center and many many restaurants. Easy access to subway, uber, lyft or taxi.

The location can’t be beat. The Times Square view from our room was incredible. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The workout facility is excellent. My only complaint was the shower which had a slick floor and a door that wouldn’t stay closed.

It was a great experience my ONLY COMPLAIN, and is a BIG ONE is that the elevator system is terrible, the key card of several guests incluiding me did not work for the elevators, and ir would take up to 10 minutes for an elevator to arrive

9/10 was a great experience overall, little expensive but location and experience covers all up.
We did not opt for breakfast. We tried the restaurant, and my burger was dry, but we could not complain much as my son's mushroom pizza was great, and he still remembers it. The room was great; I was able to sleep well. The location is prime; we paid extra for the Times Square view. room tickets included hop-on on hop-off bus tickets. Overall was great experience.

10/10 Nicely renovated and in the middle of Times Square, can't beat the location!
Looks like the hotel was recently renovated - we booked three rooms and all appeared new and immaculate. The check in process was friendly (Lilly) fast and efficient. We got there about an hour and a half early but the rooms were ready, great. We stayed for just one night. We had the breakfast brunch which was pretty much what you would expect. All in all a good trip.

5/10 Not affordable and not worth traveling to NY City. Now I know why everyone is doing Air B and B's
$40 mandatory charge to our stay forced us to spend $75 for 2 drinks and a lousy artichoke dip with chips. I am a 40+ year marriott award customer and I felt taken advantage of.

The location cannot be beat. Valet for car was very efficient. The check in process was smooth. The check out process was equally as efficient. The room was lovely with a great view. Comfortable and clean. If you’re going to a show on Broadway, you’d be hard pressed to find a better location.
